Memorial Day Weekend!

Saturday of Memorial Day Weekend was yucky and rainy and ruined the plans we had made (which were none.) But it was just the principal that had we MADE plans, they would have been ruined by the awful weather. Sunday, was slightly better in the morning so we headed to the Zoo! This was our first trip this year and it was great. The animals were active and fun to watch.  We were only detered slightly by the tornado warning at the end of our trip. But we were done looking at the animals and headed home soon after.

On Monday, Erin and I went to the Annual West Side Memorial Day Parade. This was Erin's first parade and I think she enjoyed it.  I wanted to show her the real reason for the holiday and thank our soldiers for their service.

Erin and I went to the Zoo just the two of us.  Daddy was napping and we had time to kill.  So we made a quick trip across town and visited one of our favorite places!

Our first trip to the zoo this year!  We purchased the family membership again this year so we plan on going a bunch more times this summer.  Erin really enjoyed the zoo. Maybe even moreso than in past years since I think she understands more about animals and the world around her. She seemed to have a really good time!

Erin could have stayed in the goat pen for hours!

Erin heard the lions roar and ran to find them! That is a really neat sound if you've never heard it before.  They are so loud you can feel the ground shake!

Zoo with Allison & Katie

We took Allison & Katie to the zoo this weekend. We had a great time looking at all the exhibits. It was a scorcher out but we still had fun. Erin walked pretty much the entire time! She is getting so big we can hardly stand it!

Erin really liked the butterfly exhibit. She could walk around and look at them up close! She also wanted to touch them but she wasn't allowed.

The girls got matching butterfly "tattoos" (stamps). Erin loved showing off her stamp!
