Forts!
Erin loves to hide and go "in" confined spaces. (under tables, in dog's cages, in boxes etc.) So I made a fort for her under our kitchen table with blankets and pillows. It entertained her for a good hour or so. She colored pictures and played with a flashlight.

Making A Birthday Cake for Daddy
While we were grocery shopping last week, I let Erin pick out the kind of cake she wanted to make for Ryan's birthday. She picked the "funfetti" version with the sprinkles in the batter. This morning, Erin was a big help to me and helped me mix the batter and pour it into pans. She also helped put sprinkles on top! (No cake is complete without Sponge Bob sprinkles.)
Directions for Making a Cake for Daddy: by Erin
1) Make Mommy open the bag of cake mix so I can pour it into the bowl all.by.myself
2. Add water
4. Ask Mommy to add the eggs so we don't have broken shells in the batter
5. Smile when Mommy asks you to and act like you are having fun
6. Mix it up nice and good!
7. Try to taste the batter when Mommy isn't looking
8. Mommy puts it in two pans and bakes it (I'm not allowed to touch the oven since it's hot hot!)
9. Mommy adds frosting while I take a nap (baking is a very tiring job!)
10. I add the sprinkles. I prefer to put them on in piles to cover up the nice writing Mommy put on the cake. It tastes much better this way.

THE END
Ryan, Erin and I went to dinner at Texas Roadhouse to celebrate Ryan's birthday. We had a nice dinner just the three of us and to my dismay Ryan didn't want a big Texas "Yeehaw"! from the wait staff. When we got home, we had one last gift for Ryan and we sang Happy Birthday! and Ryan blew out his candles.

Ryan's 27th Birthday
We went to dinner with Ryan's dad, sisters and Cory to celebrate Ryan's 27th birthday. We ate a Gino's East a new Chicago deep dish style pizza place in town. The pizza was delicious!!

The Mimic
Erin has started mimicking everything we do (which is both good and bad as you can imagine!) Luckily it is just actions and no words yet! :)
This morning, I was putting on my makeup and Erin *had* to have some too. I gave her a clean brush to put on her "makeup". She seemed satisfied.
I was sweeping the floor (broom not vacuum. She hates.the.vacuum). Erin wanted to help so I got out a hand broom and dust pan and she set to work.
She helps us unload and load the dishwasher, she cleans up her messes, gives you the thumbs up, and marches along with you.

Erin Sledding
Ryan took Erin sledding while he was off over the holidays. Mommy missed it because she had to work. They had a small reinactment for me so I could get the jist. It was complete with throwing a fit when we had to go inside.

Travis's Birthday Party
We attended Travis Davidson's 5th birthday party at Soccer Zone. They had this huge area inside with inflatable stuff the kids could play on. Erin had a great time!
She chased Blane and Colin around trying to tickle them and went up a huge slide all by herself! Blane took her up a few times with him and helped her. Then Erin decided she wanted to do it alone! And she did. Mommy and Daddy were so proud!
Uh Oh Mom I got frosting on the table!

New Years with Phil and Kip!
Ryan and I hung out with Phil and Kip in Indy (and Lafayette) for New Years Eve and New Years Day. It was fantastic but we missed our little Erin terribly! But she got to have fun with G-pa and Grandma.
We drove down to Indy on New Years Eve morning and hung around playing Super Mario Brothers on Wii (AWESOME game!) Then we made some fun cocktails (caramel apple cocktails to be exact) which were delicious. We went out for a bit to a bar with a very wide selection of beers. I was special and ordered a Coors Light (Mom would be so proud!). Everyone else ordered appropriately named specialty beers:
Phil: Arrogant Bastard (not really but it fits the theme)
Kip: Molson Canadian (She is half Canadian!)
Ryan: Loose Cannon (so perfect. :) )
We rung in the New Year back at their place and called it a night.
We made the hour and a half drive to Lafayette on New Years Day so the boys could go watch the Purdue/West Virginia game. They are two of the top 6 teams in the country in basketball and they were going to try to get tickets. They weren't able to get tickets so we just watched the game at Scotty's. We made a pit stop at Harry's on the way back to the car. Had a great time!
